Enabling SEO-friendly URLs

The easier a URL is to read for humans, the better it is for search engines, and the better ranking your store pages will get.

Links for store pages used to be longer in store and included extra symbols, now they are short and consist of the names and IDs of respective products and categories.

If you are selling with store on WordPress, Wix or Instant Site, SEO-friendly URLs are available to you out of the box.

Clean store URLs in Joomla

To enable clean URLs for your online store on Joomla:

  1. Make sure you have the latest version of plugin for Joomla installed. SEO-friendly URLs were released in the plugin v.3.
  2. Go to Components → Store → Advanced Settings in your Joomla admin area.
  3. Enable the option SEO friendly clean URLs:

 

Clean store URLs in other site builders and custom-made websites

If you are selling with store on a custom-made website, you can manually enable clean SEO URLs for your store. The process involves minor changes in your server configuration and store integration code.
